Amy graduated summa cum barely from Cornell University in 1997, where she stupidly didn’t take a single writing course but felt double majoring in finance and marketing would provide a more stable career path. It didn’t.
After working for the National Hockey League, a global clean energy consulting firm, and owning her own event planning agency, she began writing as a humor columnist and features writer in 2017 for Newport This Week (Rhode Island). Her column, “Slice of Life,” featured comical revelations and observations about parenting, relationships, middle age, holidays, local culture, and generational differences.
She owns three patents for a very strange-looking, but highly functional and comfortable style of underwear that she is in negotiations to license within the retail industry.
She is an Italian Jersey girl at heart, who lived in Jacksonville, Florida for sixteen years—this is where she learned how to be nice. She now lives in Newport, Rhode Island, where she learned that the word “summer” could be used as a verb. She married former tennis professional Todd Martin in 2000. They have three children, and a very fast ninety-pound greyhound and a highly mischievous twenty-pound beagle.
Sh*ts & Giggles is Amy’s debut collection of humor essays. Additional humor essay collections about middle age and holidays coming soon.
